gravy train
Based on the story by James Ellroy
A small-time ex-con takes what looks like easy money, guarding a pampered dog that's just inherited a fortune, and lands square in the middle of a blackmail-and-inheritance scheme in the sun-bleached, seedy underbelly of Los Angeles.
ABOUT GRAVY TRAIN
Adapted from James Ellroy's wickedly funny noir, Gravy Train trades the author's signature darkness for something looser and sharper-edged: a crime caper with teeth. Stan Klein is fresh out of custody and looking for an angle when a simple babysitting job, watching over a millionaire's canine heir, pulls him into a tangle of shady lawyers, double-crosses, and an inheritance worth killing for.
Set against a vivid, period Los Angeles, the story blends hardboiled style with a streak of pitch-black comedy, the kind of morally crooked, fast-talking world Ellroy made his own. Light Pipe Media is developing the property as a screen adaptation that honors that voice while bringing its absurd, high-stakes hustle to vivid cinematic life.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
James Ellroy is one of America's most acclaimed crime writers, widely known as the "Demon Dog of American crime fiction." Born in Los Angeles in 1948, he is the author of landmark novels including The Black Dahlia, L.A. Confidential, and White Jazz (the celebrated "L.A. Quartet") as well as the Underworld USA Trilogy that began with American Tabloid. His novel L.A. Confidential became the Academy Award–winning 1997 film. Ellroy's work is defined by its propulsive, staccato prose, mid-century Los Angeles settings, and unflinching portraits of crime, corruption, and obsession.
